Nothosaurs
"Southern Lizard"
| Were long necked, long tailed fish-eating reptiles, in this case, about 20 feet long. They were not dinosaurs. They had 4 wide, paddle-like limbs the forelimbs shorter than the rear limbs with webbed fingers and toes, a long thin head with many sharp teeth, the front teeth longer than the back teeth, a long pointed tail used for swimming and nostrils on the top end of the snout. Though they breathed air, most of the time was spent in the water. It lived during the entire Triassic Period. Fossils have been found in Europe, North Africa and Asia. The ice flow the Nothosaurs was climbing onto is represented by Onyx. |
